Martial arts have always fascinated him. He began practising karate in Terrebonne in 1991 with André Quevillon. Today, he is happy to have found this style because it is very well rounded. By the time he earned his blue belt, he had already started teaching as an assistant instructor. In 1996, he earned his black belt, a dream come true for him. He later became interested in kickboxing to refine his fighting technique, an art he has practised from 1996 to this day. A second dream came true in 1999: opening his own school. Today, he continues to share this passion and strives to improve the techniques being taught.

Since he began learning martial arts in 1991, François Daneau has always been interested in self-defence techniques. Accredited by IVAC to teach combat techniques, he helps victims of criminal acts recognize their potential and build their personal defence skills.

While continuing to practise his original style, he always keeps an eye on what is happening in the martial arts world. His primary goal was to find an effective knife-defence technique that could be applied in real-life situations, since many “traditional” techniques were practised improperly, with only a single stab to the body.

When François discovered the Martial Blade Concept style, taught and led by Michael Janich in the United States, he immersed himself in the system to obtain his affiliated instructor certification. We are proud to be the first school affiliated with Martial Blade Concept. The style is incredibly effective and always works logically. It allows for realistic attack simulations and teaches students to apply the techniques in different ways.

In 2016, he earned the prestigious title of World Champion in the Expert Self-Defence division at the US Open ISKA World Championship in Orlando, Florida. The largest competition in North America, it brings together competitors from more than 40 countries.

About Us

Jérémi Doyle-Smith

Instructor
3rd kyu black belt
Discipline: -Shaoling Original Kung-Fu

Having started martial arts at age 9, I am now 19 years old and therefore have 10 years of training in Shaoling Original Kung-Fu, and I reached the black belt level on December 18, 2011. Since August 2014, I have held the rank of 1st kyu black belt. At the very beginning, I signed up for fun as a high-energy kid who needed to burn off steam, and as I progressed I began helping François with the children’s class. Then, as I improved and got older, I also began teaching adults in group classes and privately. That is how I discovered two of my greatest passions: martial arts and teaching. To this day, I still want to have fun while continuing to improve, with the goal of opening my own martial arts school in the future.

About Us

Alexandre Daneau

Instructor
1st kyu black belt
Discipline: -Shaoling Original Kung-Fu

At the age of four, I took my very first karate classes at Studio Kyukaï. While I don’t remember them in detail, I know I was hooked on martial arts from a very young age.

Practising this sport for more than 14 years has certainly helped me improve physically, but also mentally, in areas such as perseverance, self-control, and even self-confidence.

Now, as an instructor, I have the privilege of sharing my knowledge of our style while continuing to learn even more.

About Us

Mikael Caron

Instructor
1st kyu black belt
Discipline: -Shaoling Original Kung-Fu

At the age of 6, I put on my very first gi without knowing that martial arts would become a passion that would shape my life.

The first training sessions were demanding and the movements were difficult, but every kick and every tao I learned brought me closer to my goal: becoming stronger, more disciplined, and better.

Today, after more than 12 years of training, I’m proud to share my knowledge as an instructor.

About Us

Rémi Lavigueur

Instructor
Brown belt, 2nd kyu
Discipline: -Shaoling Original Kung-Fu

I started martial arts in 2017 at the age of 38. My children had been training for two years, and I wanted to help them progress. I ended up discovering a real passion!

The benefits of martial arts are many: weight loss, better cardio, flexibility, balance, precision, speed, and more. Eight years later, here I am as an instructor with a brown belt, 2nd kyu, very close to a black belt.

With perseverance, what once seemed impossible to me is now within reach. Training at Studio Kyukaï means giving yourself the opportunity to push past your limits while building lasting friendships with your training partners.

About Us

Angelina Daneau

Instructor
Blue belt with brown stripe
Discipline: -Shaoling Original Kung-Fu

I started martial arts at age 4 just for fun.

At first, I didn’t think karate would become such a big part of my life. The taos and the kicks were the hardest step to master, but with effort and time, I succeeded.

By starting to share my passion with the kids in class, I want to teach my students discipline and the art of karate.

I also want them to have fun in class while they learn.
